Our Family.
Black Hat Tennis Academy was created to serve the Katy, Fulshear, Fort bend, and Cypress communities. To be the coaches we wish we had when we first picked up a racquet. Our goal is to offer quality, engaging, and rewarding tennis lessons for our students. Our mission is to help people discover, share, and play to their full potential. We offer group lessons as well as individual lessons and adult private lessons. Like in martial arts where a colored belt is used to indicate different skill levels, we have adopted the same philosophy starting with orange hat and ending with Black Hat.
Tennis Training Programs
If you choose the daily option please send Coach Greg a message 30 mins prior to the start of class saying your child will be coming.
Orange hat – Beginner Groups
Here is when the students will first be introduced to the game of tennis. We will work on basic tennis techniques and practice their hand-eye coordination with fun games and activities.
Here we will learn how to hold a racquet and how to hit a basic forehand, backhand, serve, volleys, and more!
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 – 9:30 am at Tompkins High School.
2 DAYS A WEEK
starting at
$20/day or $140/month
green hat – intermediate groups
This group is best for middle school students and will focus on learning how to navigate match play. They will build consistent ground strokes and work on their movement around the court. They will learn the rules and how to keep track of their own score in tournament-style matchplay.
They will not only learn the technical and physical parts but also the mental part and how to have confidence in themselves.
Thursday: 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Tays Jr High
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 – 10:30 am at Tompkins High School
3 DAYS A WEEK
starting at
$25/day or $225/month
black hat – advanced groups
This group is mostly for high school and up who are on their schools Junior Varsity or Varsity Team.
Here we will learn advanced court strategies to build and finish off points. This level will also focus on perfecting all the strokes and how to develop a strong mental game.

Payments
Payment is due at the end of each practice for the daily option. For the monthly option, payment is due at the beginning of the month. By paying the monthly option you commit to attending practices. If practice is canceled due to weather or canceled by the coaches then your child will recieve makeup days. We also understand that life happens so if your child can’t attend due to an injury or a school test let us know and we will work with you.
We LOVE supporting students on and off the court! If your child gets all A’s on their report card send us a picture and they will get a free private lesson.

Private vs Group Classes
As the name suggests private classes are a great way to kick-start one’s game. This is an opportunity to learn the proper technique and learn good habits from the start. Privates are where you best learn and groups are where you can practice what you learn. Groups are not only a great way to get introduced to the game when you are a beginner but they also benefit players who have a foundation as they are able to practice with different hitting styles.
